As a mark of solidarity and to show its support for the country and the Ukrainian people Burscough Town Council has today arranged for the Ukrainian National Flag to be flown in the Memorial Gardens, located on the corner of Junction Lane and Liverpool Road South.
As the devastation in Ukraine continues to dominate the news, our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine, as well as everyone else touched by this tragic situation. There can surely be no one unmoved by the plight of Ukraine and its citizens at this dreadful time.
Many refugees from this terrible conflict will want to make their way to the UK under the Government’s programme, and already a number of warm hearted Burscough residents have been diligently working within the community to provide practical help and support for victims and refugees, some with kind offers of shelter or a room. For anyone wishing to do their bit the Government has set up a website: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/ukraine-what-you-can-do-to-help – Burscough Town Council will continue to monitor the situation and offer support or advice where we can.
