(HIGGINS LANE, BURSCOUGH, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an
Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads
set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle and cycle to proceed over that
length of Higgins Lane from Swordfish Close, Burscough for a distance of
120m in a South Easterly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of
the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative as per the below schedule:-
i. From 0730 hours on Friday 22nd July 2022 until 0700 hours on
Friday 12th August 2022
ii. From 0630 hours on Thursday 18th August 2022 until 2359 hours
on Saturday 3rd September 2022
or until completion of the works within this period.

4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic (except HGVs) affected by the
closure is via:-
Langley Road, Burscough – Ringtail Road, Burscough – Chancel Way,
Burscough – Liverpool Road South, Burscough and vice versa.
5. An alternative route for HGVs affected by the closure will not be provided
owing to the 7.5t weight restriction enforced on Higgins Lane.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow new drainage installation works
to be carried out by A1 Traffic Safety on behalf of DXI Regeneration.
