Announcement from Burscough Town Council.

The Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

In advance of celebrations planned for the June 2nd – 5th Bank Holiday weekend Burscough Town Council has raised the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Flag in the Memorial Gardens. the Ukrainian National Flag remains in place as a show of support and solidarity for the citizens of Ukraine and their continued suffering.

Hoping to raise the town’s party spirit the BTC’s Street Scene Working Group plan a number of town council-approved initiatives including over 300 meters of specially themed QPJ bunting which will adorn both sides of the main thoroughfare and matching lamp post badges for a 6week period from Sunday 8th May 2022.

Leading up to the Jubilee weekend a number of local village shops will be taking part in a Magical History Tour kindly organised by the St John’s C of E Church and local historian and photographer, Michael Dawson. And with many of his ‘Images of Burscough’ photographs Michael is hoping to recreate what many of our local shops were like back in the days when the Queen ascended the throne. More to follow on this in due course. On the evening of Sunday June 5th  from 7pm the Cricket Club have kindly agreed to host a Burscough Town Council funded disco followed by a firework display Finale at 9:30ish pm.

It’s not far off so why not get your street parties organised while there is still time, we still have some party packs available in the Town Council Office

Have a GREAT Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend everyone.
